Poll Very Important Question

So, work is sending me to Seattle this week, I'm staying on Pioneer Square, and I have an extra day to do STUFF on Friday, preferably within walking distance. I know about (and have been to) Pike's Place, the aquarium, and the art museum (and there's supposedly a Doner Kebab place a couple of blocks away that I'm curious about). (A celebration is in order after achieving far far better results on our AS9100 surveillance audit than we had any right to expect, particularly given that we had a huge new contract (instead of getting the 25-30% of the business we expected, they gave us 110%; they decided to throw some extra stuff our way just for funsies, ( Read more... )

Still working a lot of overtime, but that's probably a good thing right now. Buns just switched jobs and took a pretty hefty cut in pay (on the order of 20-25%) because he was reeeeeally tired of always working 12-14 hour days. He started work as a cabbie last week, at an employee-owned company. They seem pretty cool; I'm sure ( Read more... )

Daddy and Beanpole Brother apparently were kicking around possible triggers for the lung cancer, and, unfortunately came up with a couple of fairly viable hypotheses:  1)  being dirt-poor when laying 800 feet of piping in the late 60s meant, in hindsight, a perhaps less than healthy water supply, and 2) we apparently lived downwind of the Hanford ( Read more... )

The city very generously left us a hip-deep pile of heavy wet snow in our driveway today. (I'm not exaggerating about the height. I moved three-quarters of it, then checked against the left-over.)
